Answers

1. I want to change tutorial groups
You will need to find a student from another group to swap with. Once you have that information, please see Wendy Nas in Building J103.

2. I think I've taken on too much this year, and want to drop a couple of units
See Wendy Nas, the Course Administration OFficer. She will be able to show you what will happen if you drop units, and work out an alternative pathway with you. Your new pathway will have to be approved by the SNM before you can change over to it.

3. I hate a unit that I'm doing - it doesn't make sense
First of all, see the tutor of the unit. It may be a case of just sitting down with them and talking through some of your concerns.

If this doesn't work, and you really don't feel you can talk to any of the teaching staff in the unit, click here to see who to talk to. At most, this person will help with medidation.

4. I don't understand my timetable
See Wendy Nas in Launceston, Annette Young in Hobart, Tiffany Ponsittinat in Darlinghurst and Rosemary Hill in Rozelle . They can probably help you here.

8. I haven't studied for years, and really need help with essay writing
There are several things you can do here:

a.You can go and see your tutor in the individual units you are doing, and talk to them about your work. They may offer to help you individually.

b. If you feel you lack confidence overall, you can join the Mentor program at the SNM, and a volunteer second year student will be able to provide you with assistance. If you want to join this program, please go to Student Services.

c. You can also go and see the Centre for the Advancement of Learning and Teaching (CALT).

9. I have a problem with Human Bioscience - I think I need extra help
You will need to see Janine Tarr, the Human Bioscience 1 & 2 Co-ordinator. The School of Human Life Science is separate from the School of Nursing, so you will need to deal with them direct. The School of Human Life Science is located immediately behind the School of Nursing & Midwifery (SNM), and the School office is on the ground floor level (downstairs from the SNM).

10. I need help with Society Culture and Health
You will need to see Karen Willis, the Society Culture and Health Coordinator. The School of Sociology is separate from the School of Nursing & Midwifery, so you will need to deal with them direct.

Please see your Tutor or your Unit Co-ordinator.

12. I want to change my enrolment and do another course

We recommend you talk to your Year Co-ordinator in Launceston or Campus Co-ordinator before withdrawing. If you still decide to withdraw, you will then need to withdraw from the Bachelor of Nursing in writing and apply for another course. Please see Student Centre. It's important you make decisions about this before the census date for each semester, as this is the cutoff date. You will be charged for a full year of study in the units you have withdrawn from, if you withdraw after this census date.

13. How do I become a register nurse?

Students who graduate with a Bachelor of Nursing from the SNM, are eligible to apply for registration with the Nursing Board of Tasmania (NBT). You can not work as a nurse without being registered.
